WESTFIELD - Chris Schimel, founder of Touch One Ministries and pastor of Harvest Chapel West in Brocton, recently celebrated the release of his new book, "Murder in the Church."
It is a gripping story of a family in a desperate crisis and their pastor in a desperate fight to save their lives.
When a late Saturday night phone call from one of his parishioners reveals a shocking announcement about the person's family, Pastor Chris is thrust into a nine-day-long heart-stopping race to save their lives. Each day of the drama unfolds new and frightening information about an ex-con who is harassing this family. In spite of law enforcement's involvement, the ordeal continues to escalate. Each day the anxiety level rises until a last minute life and death decision is made that seems to end the threat. But then
Schimel's new book is filled with entertainment appeal, but the lessons it contains are life-altering.
Schimel was born and raised in Westfield, spent several years pastoring churches in other parts of the United States, but returned to Chautauqua County in 2006. Since returning, he and his wife Shirley (LaPorte) Schimel operate a counseling ministry in Western New York called Touch One Counseling. Together, they pastor Harvest Chapel West at 9 Highland Ave. in Brocton.
