Twenty years ago - 1992

An ODD's-n-END's Factory Bargain Outlet store will be opening soon at the D & F Plaza. The store is part of a chain operation which has a reputation for large variety and low prices. The store features three slogans: "The notta lotta money for a lotta great stuff store," plus "say hello to good buys" and "Every day is sale day."

Thirty years ago - 1982

New York state apparently is still planning to build the Route 60 underpass in Dunkirk, but the latest word is that it will be at least one year before the project is put out to bid. Negotiations between the railroads involved are expected to be completed next month and the letting date now has been tentatively set for April 1983.

Forty years ago - 1972

Lucy Hoisington, village clerk of Silver Creek, has been awarded the title of Certified Municipal Clerk by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.

Fifty years ago - 1962

Pictured in the OBSERVER inspecting the gas-fueled Barcelona lighthouse are G. Patterson Crandall of Westfield, who converted the property into a summer cottage and Vice President Louis R. Reif of the Iroquois Gas Corp., which provided the new light.
