Wednesday Travel League

CHEEKTOWAGA - Ron Rys shot the low round of 76 in the league's first trip to Diamond Hawk Golf Course. Rys and Ed Tofil each had 41 for the low front nine score while Rys carded a 1-under par-35 on the back nine. Joe Michalski and Ron Szach each had 37 on the back. Other flight winners were Dave Miller (B), Jack Griswold (C) and Dick Maggio (D). Winner of the Commissioner's Award was Lee Titus.

At the season's midway point for the Southern Tier Scholastic Youth Trap League, standings remain elusive due to cancelled matches and yet to be reported scores.

Frewsburg commands a steady game holding the lead at last count. Official standings will have to wait until all scores have been updated. Results for the May 5 matches are as follows with Sherman and Ripley yet to report scores.

Hart Development 2, Pucci's 1

Chris Buchanan's two-out, game-winning single lifted Hart Development to victory.

Lucas Voss and Brandon Wallace each had hits for the winners.

Buchanan was the winning pitcher while Voss also saw some time on the hill.

Pucci hits came from Derrick Walters and Nicco Pucci.

Walters was the tough-luck losing pitcher.

Fredonia Minor League Softball

Family Orthodentics vs. Wendy's

Wendy's offense was led by Cierra Smith and Marissa Cash with two hits each. Kelly Lucas and Shelby Nowak played stellar defense.

For Family Orthodontics, Jamie Hemenger and Khushprett Sandhu each had three hits while Erin Schrantz and Ashley Ricker provided the defense. Madison Marsh and Caelin Holt each pitched two strong innings.

Van Miller Hometown Hero Scholarship Fund

The Fourth Annual golf tournament will be presented by Lake Shore Savings Bank this year.

The event is scheduled for Friday, June 15 with registration slated for 8: 30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 10 a.m. at Shorewood Country Club.

There are several opportunities to sponsor the event. A Gold Event Sponsor is $2,000 while a Silver Event Sponsor is $1,000. A Co-Lunch Sponsor is $500 and a Tee Sponsor is $125. Golf and dinner for non-Shorewood members is $135 while Golf and dinner for Shorewood members without a cart is $115. Golf and dinner with a cart for Shorewood members is $100. Dinner only is $40.

The honorary chairperson this year is former Buffalo Bill Ed Rutkowski, who played from 1963-69 and was the Erie County Executive from 1979-1987.
