Division 2

Silver Creek 4, Randolph 1

RANDOLPH - T.J. Grant tossed an eight-inning complete game Friday and scored the eventual game-winning run, as Silver Creek (5-7, 3-5) topped Randolph (3-7, 1-6), 4-1, in CCAA Division 2 baseball action.

"He threw the ball real well," Silver Creek head coach Mike Janisch said. "He has been our (best) pitcher all year and he certainly showed it today. He was in command the whole game."

Grant allowed a run on two hits while striking out 12 and walking six. He also had a pair of hits at the dish.

The Black Knights loaded the bases in the top of the eighth inning on singles by Grant and Tony Strong and a catcher's interference call during Zach Klisiewicz's at-bat. Grant scored the eventual game-winning run on a passed ball, before Adam Klajbor knocked in Strong and Klisiewicz with a double.

"This was a team victory," Janisch said. "With everyone being a part of the things necessary to win the game."

Strong, who plated Silver Creek's first run of the game in the top of the sixth with a single, and Klajbor, each finished with two hits.

For Randolph, Jake Abraham had an RBI single in back of losing pitcher Nate Gross, who worked the first 7 1/3 innings, allowing all four runs on 10 hits while striking out five and walking one.

Division 1

Olean 12,?Gowanda 0

GOWANDA - The Olean Huskies (8-6, 4-3) received timely hits in defeating the Gowanda Panthers (7-6, 4-3) 12-0, Friday in CCAA Division 1 high school baseball action.

The loss puts Gowanda and Olean in a tie for third place in the division with identical 4-3 league records.

Despite only one strikeout, the Panthers mustered just five hits.

"It's misleading that we had one strikeout," Gowanda coach Tim Smith. "We did not have many quality at bats. The ones we did hit were weak. Olean made all the plays, but they didn't have to labor too much."

Jake Hanson-Ivett and Nick Huffman each had two hits for Gowanda.

The Panthers return to action Monday when they travel to Fredonia.
