Lady Thunderbirds rally from 5-0 hole, drop Ellicottville

MAYVILLE - Chautauqua Lake overcame a five-run first-inning deficit Saturday against visiting Ellicottville, en route to a 16-5 CCAA Division 3 softball win.

Winning pitcher Lauren Cummings finished allowing five runs on three hits while striking out seven and walking one.

Ashley Moulton had a pair of triples, a double and three runs scored to lead the Lady Thunderbirds' offense while teammate Hannah Rauh had two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Also in the win, Jessie Herrington had two hits (double), an RBI and three runs scored. Cummings helped herself at the dish with a pair of singles and an RBI while Courtney Hewes had a triple and a pair of RBIs.

For Ellicottville, Becca Golley, Liz Wendel and Madison Szpaucher all singled.
