John M. Yorke of Fredonia, NY died Saturday (May 5, 2012) at the Lakeshore Healthcare Facility in Irving, N.Y.
John retired from the U.S. Army (Airborne Division) after 25 years of service. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars and was a member of The Rakkasans 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment Association. In 1992, he retired from Ferranti Packard.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Francis E. (Dailous) Yorke who was the loving mother to his children; his sisters Janice (Yorke) Torrie and Alice (Yorke) Kroh; and one son, James W. Yorke.

His survivors include his children: Daniel (Robin) Yorke of Conn.; Richard (Cecelia) Yorke of Fla.,; John York of Dunkirk, N.Y.; Jennifer (Randall) Sam of Fredonia, N.Y.; and Linda (Lee) Lawhead of Fla. John is also survived by his brothers: Thomas Yorke of Tonawanda, N.Y., and Robert Yorke of Everett, Wash.; a sister, Kathleen (Yorke) Cimasi of Amherst, N.Y.; several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and his loving companion, Denni Gennuso of Fredonia, N.Y.
John's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 East Main St. in Fredonia, N.Y. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service and may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from 5-8 p.m.
Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Dunkirk, N.Y.
