Twenty years ago - 1992

Friends of the Dining Car are conducting a sale of nearly new household items, baked goods and crafts to benefit the restoration of the historic Ward and Dickinson Dining Car. The dining car will be located in the parking lot next to the fire hall. It is the last known example of the portable restaurants manufactured and designed in Silver Creek. Plans are to restore the car and open it as a museum and meeting site.

Thirty years ago - 1982

A new group of Dunkirk High School students/volunteers will help staff the canteen at Brooks Hospital. The program is the idea of Mrs. Pauline Cherry, a member of the Brooks Hospital Auxiliary with Dunkirk High School Principal John J. Mancuso acting as a coordinator. When approached by Mr. Mancuso, many students recognized the need of the hospital canteen and the value of the program as a community service. The girls will be expected to serve customers, clear tables and clean up.

Forty years ago - 1972

Terry L. Jensen is the Calendar Girl of the Month. A senior at Westfield Academy and Central School, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jensen, 73 Elm St., Westfield.

Fifty years ago - 1962

James DeJohn of Silver Creek has been installed as president of the Chautauqua County Mayors' Association.
