Collection set for Buffalo Homeless Vets Program
The Brocton Interact Club and the Brocton Amvet Post 868 is sponsoring a collection for the Buffalo VAVS Homeless Veterans Program. New clothing such as socks, underwear, T-shirts and pants (sizes L, XL, XXL and XXXL) will be accepted through the month of May.
Also collected are transitional housing supplies (new only) including starter cooking sets, dishes, silverware, bed linen, towels and assorted kitchen utensils.
Collection boxes are located at the Community Bank in Brocton, the Brocton American Legion Post 434 and Brocton Central School.

Ross Grange to host
4-H members at tureen supper Monday
Ross Grange will be host to 4-H members and their families who wrote essays about their meat animal project.
A tureen supper will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday followed by the program (members will read their essays) and the business meeting.
Each winner will receive a check from the Grange to help with expenses of raising their animal.
The animals will be auctioned at the 4-H meat animal sale at the Chautauqua County Fair in Dunkirk in July.
The public is always welcome to join the fellowship and learn more about 4-H as well as the Grange. Meetings are held at the Falcon's Nest Banquet Hall, 2001 E. Main St., Falconer.
Collins Fire District voting date Tuesday
The Collins Fire District will hold a vote on Tuesday on a proposition. The proposition is for the withdrawal of up to $30,500 from the extensive building maintenance and repair reserve fund for the replacement of the west roof at the Collins Fire Hall.
The vote will take place from 6 to 9 p.m.
Residents who live west of Jennings Road and Unger Road, designated Collins, will vote at the fire hall, 2365 Main St., Collins.
Residents who live east of Jennings Road and Unger Road, designated Collins Center, will vote at the fire hall, 3514 Main St., Collins Center.
Silver Creek Elementary art show
Silver Creek Elementary will hold an art show of elementary students' art Tuesday in the elementary school lobby in conjunction with the school budget vote on the same day. The vote is open ot qualified district voters from noon to 9 p.m. in the high school lobby.
Certified food handler class set for Monday afternoon in Mayville
The Chautauqua County Health Department will offer the certified food handler class on Monday at the Town of Chautauqua Municipal Building (Old Mayville School), County Emergency Services Meeting Room 1 (use rear parking lot entrance), 2 Academy St., Mayville.
Registration is 12:30 p.m. and training from 1 to 4 p.m. Call 753-4693 to pre-register. There is a fee to attend - $35, for profit organizations; $20, not-for-profit organizations. Book and course material will be provided.
