SILVER CREEK - The Silver Creek Central Middle School announces the Students of the Month for February. The students were selected based on the following criteria: strong work ethic, dependability, helpfulness, respectfulness and cooperation with others.
The sixth-grade recipients are Ryan Rocque and Taylor Farley. Ryan is the son of Thomas and Vicki Rocque of Silver Creek. Within school, he sings in chorus and participates in intramural basketball. He is also a member of the Builders Club, the Broadcast Club, the Yearbook Club and the Book Club. Outside of school, he is a member of a youth group and participates on a youth baseball league. His favorite activities include riding his bike, hanging out with friends, listening to music, and just being outside. His goal is to one day become a science teacher.
Taylor is the daughter of David and Justina Farley of Silver Creek. Within school, she sings in chorus, participates in intramural basketball, and is a member of the Book Club and the Science and Technology Club. Outside of school she participates on a youth soccer league and is a member of the United Angels Youth Group, Girl Scouts and the Chautauqua Children's Chorale. Her favorite activities include riding her bike, swimming, spending time with her friends and playing soccer. She is interested in one day becoming a meterologist.
The seventh-grade recipients are Savannah Karcz and Erin O'Rourke. Savannah is the daughter of Terry Karcz and Shannon Aures Karcz of Silver Creek. Within school, she plays percussion in band, is a member of the Art Club and the Yearbook Club, and participates on the basketball team. Outside of school, she is a member of the Girl Scouts and the Compass Youth Group. She also participates in Sheridan Youth Recreation and The Playground Drama Day Camp at SUNY Fredonia. Her favorite activities include reading, watching television, playing with her dog, eating and sleeping. She also loves "The Hunger Games." She hopes to one day become an actress, lawyer, architect or baker.
Erin is the daughter of David and Susan O'Rourke of Silver Creek. Within school, she participates on the swim team, plays the clarinet in band and is a member of the Builders Club and the Grapevine. Outside of school, she is a member of the Girl Scouts and participates in the Hammerheads Swim Club. Her favorite activities include cooking, skiing, reading and swimming. Her goal is to become a chef or an engineer.
The eighth-grade recipients are Jerry Seifert and Madison Granata. Jerry is the son of Rick and Laurie SanFilippo of Silver Creek. Within school, he participates on the soccer team and is a member of the Science and Technology Club. Outside of school, his favorite activities include building things, playing video games, riding his bike and swimming. His goal is to become an architect.
Madison is the daughter of John and Kim Granata of Silver Creek. Within school, she participates on the swim team, sings in chorus and is a member of the Natural Helpers and the Yearbook Club. Outside of school, she participates on a youth softball league and is a member of the Katelin Doctor Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee. Her favorite activities include painting, singing, swimming, playing the piano, traveling and being outside. She is interested in one day becoming an attorney, possibly in the environmental science field.
