Kari Lynn Maytum and Charles William Pierce Jr. of Fredonia were united in marriage on Aug. 13, 2011, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fredonia, the church where they were both baptized on the same date. The double-ring ceremony was performed by Father Robert Arnold.
The bride is the daughter of Kurt and Julie Maytum of Fredonia. The groom is the son of Charles and Josephine Pierce of Fredonia.
The bride wore a slender white, strapless gown with a beaded bodice and train, a sweetheart neckline, and a lace-up back. She carried a cascading bouquet of fuchsia roses with accents of white crystals. She was escorted by her father.

Serving as maid of honor was Carly Thompson of Buffalo, good friend of the bride. Bridesmaids included friends of the bride Emily Griffith and Marissa Carmello, both of Fredonia; cousins of the bride Stephanie Weatherlow of Fredonia, Elizabeth Bauer of Connecticut and Katherine White of Angola; and cousin of the groom Rachel Risley. The bridesmaids and maid of honor wore strapless floor-length gowns of charcoal gray with a sweetheart neckline and a crystal broach on the waistline. The bride's cousin, Maria Maytum of Fredonia, was the flower girl.
The best man was Brian Kern of Fredonia, friend of the groom. Ushers included Scott Pierce of Fredonia, brother of the groom; Kristopher Maytum of Fredonia, brother of the bride; cousins of the groom Matthew Pierce Travis Higgs of Jamestown and Jeff Pierce of Sheridan; and Tyler Laurie of Brocton, good friend of the groom. The ring bearer was Jonathon Gambino of Fredonia.
A reception was held following the ceremony outdoors at the lakefront of Shorewood Country Club.
The bride graduated from Fredonia Central School in 2006. She earned a bachelor's degree in business marketing from SUNY Fredonia in 2009 and graduated from Continental School of Beauty in 2010. She currently works for her family's business, Xpress Promotional Solution in Dunkirk.
The groom graduated from Brocton Central School in 2005. He attended Gannon University and then transferred to SUNY Fredonia where he received a bachelor's degree in business marketing in 2009. He currently works for his father's business Pierce Services, Inc.
The couple will reside in their new home in Fredonia.
