At a recent meeting, Sally Lawson stood to address the Board of Education about planning activities for the 75th anniversary of Cassadaga Valley Central School. Others who accompanied Lawson are seated left to right: Sue Sipos, Marci Miller and Danyal Dahl. One planning meeting was held. The next meeting of the group is June 7 at 7 p.m. in the multipurpose room at the Cassadaga Middle/High School.

According to Sally Lawson, who is taking a leadership role in the planning, "The meeting had about 10 Cassadaga Valley Central School graduates ranging from classes of 1953 to 1991."

During the first meeting, those attending discussed what they would like to see included in the celebration, possible dates, and the length of the celebration. Lawson was pleased with the suggestions from participants.

"Most agreed that we want to see the current students involved in many aspects of the events. One area that seemed to bring itself naturally to the students was the new 'history' from the 50th to the 75th. It was suggested that the next book be digital and that the students would certainly be the best source for attempting this goal. Danyal Dahl will be coordinating this project with computer, history and journalism teachers as well as Mr. Bens, the technology coordinator," she said.

A logo contest for students was also discussed, as well as the types of events from the 50th anniversary celebration that might be repeated.

The next meeting will be June 7 in the high school multipurpose room at 7 p.m.

An invitation is extended to any and all graduates of the district. Those who have questions or need further information may call Sally Lawson at 595-3713.
