Pomfret dog census set for June 1

The Town of Pomfret will conduct a dog census beginning June 1. All residents in the village of Fredonia and the town of Pomfret outside the village will be included.

License fees are $8 for spayed or neutered dogs; $18 for non-spayed or non-neutered dogs.

There will be an added $10 enumeration fee for each unlicensed dog. To avoid the enumeration fee, owners must register unlicensed dogs before being visited by the enumerator.

Residents may license their dogs at the Town of Pomfret Town Clerk's Office, 9 Day St., Fredonia, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Owners will need to show proof of current rabies vaccination of proof of spaying or neutering.

Rabies clinic information is available by calling 672-7496 ext. 1.

Soil and Water District directors meeting Thursday

The Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District Directors' regular meeting will be Thursday, May 24 at 8:30 a.m. at the Frank W. Bratt Ag Center, 3542 Turner Road, Jamestown.
