WESTFIELD - A Westfield man has been charged with multiple drug and other offenses after refusing to cooperate with police.
On Thursday around 11:30 p.m., Westfield Police responded to 127 Bourne St., Lot 1 for an unwanted person. According to the complainant, the unwanted male, identified as Velom J. Boyd, 44, of Westfield, allegedly barricaded himself in the bedroom and had been smoking crack all day. The complainant also stated Boyd was armed with a knife.
Officers made contact with Boyd by speaking with him through a looked bedroom door, but Boyd ignored the officer's commands to unlock the door. Eventually, officers did talk Boyd into unlocking the door. As officers opened the door, Boyd was allegedly observed smoking from a crack pipe. Officers commanded Boyd to drop the pipe and lighter, which he refused. Boyd ran toward the bathroom on the opposite side of the room before being subdued and taken into custody.
Boyd was allegedly found to be in possession of a bag of crack cocaine, a scale for weighing drugs, and a small quantity of marijuana.
Boyd was charged with two counts of obstructing governmental administration, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of marijuana. Boyd was arraigned in Westfield Village Court and was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 property bail.
Westfield man charged with rape
WESTFIELD On May 18, an arrest was made in connection with a rape charge in Westfield.
Westfield Police officers investigated an alleged rape that occurred between the dates of April 9 and April 12 involving a young female. After a lengthy investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained for Adam J. Robinson, 22, of Westfield and served on Friday.
Robinson was arraigned in the Village of Westfield Court and was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 property bail. Robinson was charged with third-degree rape, a Class E felony.
