Police investigating attempted burglary

Dunkirk Police are investigation an attempted burglary over the weekend.

Police were called to the rear of 404 Central Ave. Sunday at 11:37 p.m. for a report of a suspicious situation. Upon arrival, officers located a ladder up to the rear of the building and located Joel Robles-Garcia, 33, of Lincoln Avenue on the roof. Officers also found an open window to Old Sarge's Drop Zone had been tampered with. Robles-Garcia was taken into custody and charged with third-degree burglary, a class D felony; possession of burglars tools, class A misdemeanor; and third-degree criminal trespass, a class B misdemeanor.

He was held in the city holding center pending arraignment in City Court. He was arraigned Monday and is being held on bail.

The investigation is continuing. The Dunkirk Police Department requests that anyone who sees or hears anything out of the ordinary to immediately report it to the department by calling 911 or 366-2266.
