Twenty years ago - 1992

Post-season honors for members of the Class D state champion Pine Valley basketball team continue to pour in. Junior forward Melissa Stankey and sophomore guard Harmonee Williams were selected to the New York State Sportswriters Association All-State team last week. In addition, Tim Nobles was selected state sportswriters' Class D coach of the year for guiding the Panthers to their second straight state title.

Thirty years ago - 1982

The featured speaker at the fourth annual "I Love Mother" banquet recently held at Shorewood Country Club was Sherry Margolis, the weekend anchor person for Channel 7's Eyewitness News. The dinner was a tribute to mothers sponsored by the Dunkirk High School Marauder 3R Club. The girls-only club was formed four years ago by DHS Principal John J. Mancuso to encourage improved dress, poise and personality in school. It has more than 150 members in Grades 9-12.

Forty years ago - 1972

Dr. Joseph R. LaPaglia Sr. has retired, ending a 53-year medical career in Dunkirk. For most of those years, his office was located in his home at 50 Lincoln Ave., Dunkirk.

Fifty years ago - 1962

Due to a decline in membership, the St. Anthony Society's clubrooms will be sold, it was disclosed by club officials. The building, located on Orchard Street in Fredonia, was originally built by members of the society more than 50 years ago. The asking price for the building, which contains a gymnasium and a full basement, is $20,000.
