Without yet presenting any clear financial alternatives for saving the Chautauqua County Home, a number of workers and supporters have often said the Home is not a burden to taxpayers.
After Wednesday, that point can no longer be made. The Chautauqua County Legislature approved a resolution to spend $1.36 million in inter-governmental transfer funds - also known as taxpayer dollars - to keep the Home from running a deficit.
Those funds are matched by federal dollars, all of which come from - you guessed it! - taxpayer dollars.
Any questions?
