Sheridan Historical Society will be open Memorial Day

Sheridan Historical Society will be open Memorial Day from 9 a.m. to noon at the former Sheridan Town Hall. On the first floor, a multi-media display will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the outbreak of the War of 1812. Images and personal accounts of Sheridan residents will illustrate the impact of the war on local families and nearby fighting at Black Rock (now Buffalo), in addition to recognizing the Sheridan men who served in the war. The collection room upstairs will be open for visitors to peruse and learn more about other history of the town. The Sheridan Historical Society is located on the corner of Route 20 and Center Road (County Road 79) at Sheridan Center. All are welcome.

(FYI: The blinking light that used to be a landmark at Sheridan Center has been removed by the New York State DOT.)
