Silver Creek - Joseph S. Meck, 84, of Silver Creek died Thursday (May 24, 2012) at his residence. He was born on April 7, 1928 in Silver Creek, the son of the late Peter and Josephine (Randazzo) Meck.
A lifelong area resident, Joe worked as a cost accountant for Allegheny Ludlum for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church, Mt. Carmel Social Club and the Knights of Columbus. Joe was very active in community affairs for a long time. His main interest and pride were his

Surviving are a son, Peter (Patricia) Meck of North Collins, NY; a daughter, Sheila (Jerry) Hyde of Silver Creek; a grandson, Kelly David Hyde; a granddaughter, Keri Ann Hyde; a brother, Louis (Genevieve) Meck of Silver Creek; a sister, Jess Chiavetta of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his wife, Dolores (Manuel) Meck, whom he married Aug. 7, 1948 and who died on Nov. 25, 2006; his sisters, Angeline Ameno, Frances Cutrona and Carmela "Minnie" Nicosia.
Prayers will be held Friday, June 1, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, Silver Creek followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Silver Creek. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Silver Creek. The family will be present Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 4-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Silver Creek Emergency Squad, 162 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY.
