Twenty years ago - 1992

Michael L. Roof, son of Lee and Pat Roof of 38 Buffalo St., Silver Creek has been named "Outstanding Senior" in the computer science curriculum at Alfred State Agricultural and Technical College. A 1990 alumnus of Silver Creek Central School, he received the honor at Alfred State's recent Honors Convocation.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Silver Creek Police Chief John Yannie recently received an award for Americanism from Richard Clees, the Sixth District Chairman for Americanism in the VFW. The award was offered in conjunction with National Police Week which was celebrated in May.

Forty years ago - 1972

Bankers Trust of Jamestown has officially announced its intentions to establish a branch bank office in the village of Westfield. It will be located at 54 East Main St.

Fifty years ago - 1962

George B. Weaver Jr. has been appointed to the advisory board of the Dunkirk office of Manufacturers and Traders Trust Company. Mr. Weaver is president of the Fredonia Seed Company.
