Brocton school board meeting Thursday

The Brocton Central School Board of Education will hold a special meeting Thursday in the Board Con-ference room. The meeting will be called to order at 6 p.m. and enter into executive session with the regular meeting starting at 7 p.m.

Z&M AG and Turf

to sponsor benefit chicken barbecue

Cornell Cooperative Exten-sion of Chautauqua County 4-H Program is honored to be recognized by Z & M Ag and Turf as a quality community youth program. Z & M Ag and Turf is hosting a 4-H chicken barbecue Saturday at the Falconer Z & M location from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Proceeds will help fund the 4-H Program. Chicken will be prepared by the Ellington Fire Department. Dinners will be served by 4-H members and are $10.

Training session on ID, reporting child abuse

A state-mandated training session for professionals on identifying and reporting child abuse, maltreatment and neglect will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thurs-day at the LoGuidice Educational Center, D" Bldg., 9520 Fredonia-Stockton Road, Fredonia.

The training is required for all persons applying for a provisional or permanent certificate of license valid for administrative or supervisory service, classroom teaching service, or school service. Therefore, in addition to teachers and school administrators, the mandate affects school physicians, nurses, therapists and others in the fields of health care and education.

Participants should bring their license or certificate number with them if possible. A State Education Department certificate of completion will be provided for each course participant. A $30 fee will be charged for this workshop. To register, call 1-800-344-9611 or 672-4371 ext. 2145. Participants are asked to be at the training 15 minutes prior to start time.

Kiwanis Club chicken BBQ Sunday

The Northern Chautau-qua Kiwanis Club is having its annual chicken BBQ Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Post 62, 211 Central Ave. Dunkirk. Dinner includes: 1/2 chicken, potato salad, tossed salad, desert, coffee and juice. Cost is $8 for adults and $5.50 for children. A 50/50 raffle will also be available.

All money raised from this event stays in the local community. Kiwanis provides funds and support for: Salvation Army Thanksgiving Food Baskets, Photos with Santa, Fredonia students of the month, youth hockey teams, American Legion Boys State, Babe Ruth team, Kamp Kiwanis, MDA, high school senior scholarships, books and activity kits to local hospitals, Chautauqua Children's Safety Village, Fredonia Key Club, American Cancer Society Relay For Life and various other charities and causes.
