Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library system makes ebooks easier

June 4, 2012
The OBSERVER

JAMESTOWN - Audio-books and eBooks provided by the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System will be easier than ever to use since mobile apps for Android and iOS have been updated by OverDrive, the digital distributor.

OverDrive recently announced the release of OverDrive Media Console v2.4.2 for Android and iOS (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch).

With this release, users of these apps can enjoy "look and feel" changes, bug fixes and performance updates. Several new eReader features give the user more control over text justification, line spacing, page margins, and font selection.

Android users can also use widgets to play audiobooks right from the home screen or to resume reading eBooks with a single tap.

The system requirements remain the same, and the free apps can be installed on phones and devices running Android v1.5 or newer and iOS v4.2 or newer.

Users with OverDrive Media Console already installed will be notified that an update is available.

Anyone who would like to download free audiobooks and eBooks through the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System needs a library card and PIN from an automated member library.

For information, call 484-7135, Ext. 225.
