It is an opportunity for fun, charity and a way to showcase a new jewel in the city of Dunkirk.
On Friday, Dunkirk Dunks for Donations will take place in the new high school gym and indoor athletic facility. The event will be sponsored by the high school's National Honor Society.
The event begins with a children's carnival from 4 to 6 p.m., a silent auction and a 7 p.m. game between the Dunkirk Middle School faculty and the Dunkirk High, elementary teachers.
Funds raised from this game will benefit two families and local organizations that have been important to the Dunkirk School District Community including the Randy Cooper family, and Brian and Amy Kuzdale. Other beneficiaries of the event are the Lisa Speziale Memorial Scholarship Fund, Lakeshore Humane Society, Juvenile Arthritis, Boys & Girls Club, Dunkirk Free Library and Relay for Life.
Tickets for the event are $5 - and all that money is reinvested in the community and some worthwhile causes.
