CHAUTAUQUA - Chautauqua Institution invites the public to meet and experience the technique and artistry of a semifinalist of the 2012 JoAnn Falleta International Guitar Concerto Competition at 11 a.m. Friday at Fletcher Music Hall.
The competition's semifinalist will be chosen the day before the event and announced the day of the performance. The public is encouraged to attend this free event which will also feature musical selections and a brief Q&A with the semifinalist.
The JoAnn Falleta International Guitar Concerto Competition is named in honor of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra's music director. Launched by public broadcasting station WNED and the BPO in 2004, the competition brings 10 international guitarists to Buffalo every two years. It has evolved into a week of exciting events celebrating the artistry of the guitar. More information about the competition can be found at www.fallettacompetition.org.
