DEC announces fish management workshop

A Lake Erie Upper Niagara River Fish Management Workshop will be held at Woodlawn Beach State Park on June 21 from 6:30 to 9 p.m., the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced.

The free workshop will take place at Woodlawn Beach State Park's pavilion, and will begin with DEC biologists presenting fish aging demonstrations. This presentation will be followed by a series of five presentations on Lake Erie and the Upper Niagara River. The workshop will conclude with questions and open discussion.

Key members of Lake Erie and Niagara River's fisheries management and research community will present on inter-agency Lake Erie fisheries management, commercial fishing, trends in Lake Erie's fish community, new muskellunge research and habitat initiatives on the Niagara River.

This workshop is sponsored by DEC's Lake Erie Fisheries Unit and Region 9 Fisheries offices. Anyone interested is welcome to attend this free event and registration is not required.

Planning board workshop set

The town of Dunkirk Planning Board will conduct a workshop on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, 4737 Willow Road. The purpose of the workshop is to continue development of a comprehensive plan for the town.

Chamber board meets Wednesday

The Dunkirk Community Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly board of directors meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Clarion Hotel.

Kathy Tampio, executive director of the Chadwick Bay Regional Development Corporation, will be a guest speaker. All are invited to attend.
