On Saturday, installation of officers was held at the Frank Acquavia Post 1344 of the American Legion in Dunkirk. John Miga, the Chautauqua County commander was the installing officer. Richard Makuch, Sergeant-at-Arms called the new officers forward.
Miga said, "I am encouraged by the new officers stepping forward to serve. This was one of the original posts in Dunkirk, and I hope to see a good year."
Sam Gerace, the newly elected commander of the post, said, "The most important thing is to increase membership in this post. I am encouraging veterans, sons of veterans, wives, sisters, and mothers to join us. We have some challenges. Anyone who could volunteer time, provide materials, or do minor repairs would be appreciated. Our post wants to reach out to the community and give back to the community."
