Woman faces several charged after alleged stabbing incident

WESTFIELD - On Monday, a Westfield woman was charged with assault, menacing and other charges after an alleged stabbing attempt on Saturday.

On Saturday around 8:40 p.m., Westfield Police responded to 55 Union St. for a report of a person with a weapon. Upon arrival, officers observed Jessica Rumsey, 34, of Westfield, bleeding heavily from her arm. The injuries were allegedly sustained after punching a window.

Upon further investigation, it was found Rumsey allegedly stabbed a neighbor with a pair of scissors, punched the neighbor in the face, and punched through a door window.

Rumsey went to Westfield Memorial Hospi-tal where she was charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly using profane language at the hospital in the presence of patients and hospital staff.

A warrant was issued for Rumsey's arrest and was served on Monday. Rumsey was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree menacing and third-degree assault.

Rumsey was arraigned in Westfield Court and bail was set for $1,000 cash and $2,000 property.

Four inmates charged with criminal mischief

MAYVILLE On Mon-day, four inmates at the Chautauqua County Jail were charged with criminal mischief.

Around 9 p.m., during a routine search of Podular Housing Unit A of the Chautauqua County Jail, it is alleged two inmates were discovered to be in possession of a large amount of destroyed Westlaw Legal Reference materials. These legal materials were the property of the jail.

The subjects, Lance Clark, 27, John W. Harper, 23, both of Jamestown and Luis Montanez, 34, David Deynes, 30, both of Buffalo, were charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and will appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court.

SILVER CREEK On Sunday, an Orchard Park man was arrested on a warrant for burglary.

Around 8 p.m., sheriff's deputies and Silver Creek Police Department received a tip that Mark Menclewicz, 47, of Orchard Park, who had an outstanding felony warrant for third-degree burglary, was on Routes 5 and 20 in Hanover.

Menclewicz was located in a vehicle operated by Mikol Rockwood, 22, of Irving. Investigation led to Rockwood being arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI), DWI per se blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and unlicensed operator.

Both men were taken into custody and Menclewicz was transported to Chautauqua County Jail and Rockwood was later released with tickets. Rockwood will answer the charges in Hanover court.

SUNSET BAY On Monday, Nicholas Canaski, 28, of Orchard Park, was observed in possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage on South Shore Drive. He was issued an appearance ticket for the violation of the local law and he will answer the charge in Hanover Court.

Eduardo E. Sanchez, 32, of West Fourth Street was charged with violating the noise ordinance June 5.

Israel Soto, 31, of Deer Street was charged with passing through a red light on June 6.

Merritt D. Wolcott, 21, of Main Street was charged with failure to keep right on June 6.

Lisandra Figueroa, no age listed, of West Second Street was charged with operating a motor vehicle while using a cell phone on June 6.

Adam R. Jessie, 22, of Leming Street was charged with aggravated harassment on a previous charge, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident June 8.

Toshcani Serrano-Diaz, 19, of Park Avenue was charged with third-degree assault on June 8.

Hector R. Vazquez, 25, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree criminal tampering on June 8.

Jorge A. Davila Jr., 23, of Lincoln Avenue was charged with second-degree menacing on June 9.

Cassandra White, 24, of Maple Avenue was charged with an arrest warrant and two bench warrants for previous charges of failure to pay parking on June 10.

Jonathan M. Linger, 25, of Courtney Street was charged with second-degree harassment on June 10.

Donte M. Chambers, 19, of Deer Street was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana on June 10.

Shaquille D. Thomas, 18, of Park Avenue was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana on June 10.

Hardy L. McCullum Jr., 18, of Roosevelt Avenue was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon on June 10.

Willie F. Lockett, 49, was charged with failure to notify address on June 11.

Samuel O. Cuyler, 23, of Main Street was charged with two counts of second-degree harassment June 12.

Cheryl L. Jessie, 48, of Leming Street was charged with two counts of petit larceny on June 12.
