City team needs new leader

June 15, 2012
The OBSERVER

For the Dunkirk High School football team, it is time to start over.

After this week's board meeting - and with the resignation of four coaches, including head coach Michael Sarratori - there are plenty of questions from the community as to what happened. While most issues behind the scenes never become public, the obvious piece now is to go ahead with finding and naming a new coach.

Football at the city school has been gaining momentum. It started with a new attitude over recent years and reached a peak with the new football field last year, which brought even more excitement.

The bandwagon for Dunkirk football, hopefully, will not be derailed for long. The naming of a new coach is the priority. Those who will assist come next.

Strange as it seems, the season is only two months away. Students who plan to play next year need some leadership. They hope - and we do as well - it comes soon.
