On Thursday morning, a number of Dunkirk High School seniors braved the heat and humidity to, in a way, give back to a city that has supported them for 13 years.
These seniors, many of whom are moving on to further their education, said thanks to Dunkirk by taking part in the 11th annual Senior Sweep program. The event not only helps clean up around town, but it also brings the seniors one of their last chances to be together and accomplish a great deal.
Other school districts also are proud of their seniors as many have already held their annual recognition nights and award receptions.
Our wish for all of our area graduates is they are able to return to their hometown and contribute to an area that has so much to offer in their future.
Inside today's edition you will find our annual Graduation section, which focuses on hundreds of area seniors who are ready to take the next step. We salute them all - for their accomplishments and persistence.
Good luck to the graduating Class of 2012. May they find success in their future endeavors.
