At May 16 ceremonies, David W. Foley received a juris doctor cum laude from Vermont Law School in Burlington. His other honors included the American Jurisprudence Award for excellent achievement in the study of Constitutional Law. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert W. Foley of West Lake Road, Dunkirk and an alumnus of Fredonia High School and Fredonia State University College.
Thirty years ago - 1982
Calendar Girl for the month of June is Elizabeth "Betsy" Conrad, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Conrad of Center Street, Gowanda. A senior at Gowanda Central School, she is a Student Council member, writes for the school newspaper and is on the tennis team. Musically inclined, she takes part in chorus and band. Betsy spent two months living with a family in Mexico. She will attend Clarion University to study Spanish and music.
Forty years ago - 1972
Schrantz's Liquor Store and Wine Cellar at the Ames Plaza on Bennett Road is celebrating a grand reopening. The store has been enlarged and remodeled by the owners, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Schrantz.
Fifty years ago - 1962
H. Gloff and Sons G-4, one of the four remaining commercial fishing tugs in Dunkirk, lifted a total of 7,570 pounds of perch last week.
