HANOVER Deputies were on foot patrol Wednesday around 6:05 p.m. in Sunset Bay and observed Brendan Tobolski, 20, of West Seneca, to allegedly be in possession of marijuana. Further investigation into the incident revealed Tobolski was also allegedly in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Tobolski was taken into custody and later released with appearance tickets. Tobolski will answer the charges of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana in the Town of Hanover Court.
CHAUTAUQUA Jennifer L. Blake, 23, of Mayville was charged with third-degree assault after an alleged incident at her residence on Wednesday. It is alleged that Blake attacked another person which resulted in that person being injured. Blake was issued an appearance ticket and will answer the charge in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date.
HANOVER The sheriff's office received a complaint of a vehicle traveling at a very slow speed on Route 5 and 20 Wednesday around 11:20 p.m. Shortly after, deputies observed a vehicle matching the description the vehicle sitting stationary at a green light at the intersection of Alleghany Road and Route 5 and 20.
The suspect vehicle was stopped and Cynthia Ballagh, 61, of Irving, was found to be the operator. Further investigation found her to be intoxicated and she was arrested for felony DWI, aggravated DWI per se with a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or higher and a traffic light violation. She was released with traffic tickets and is to appear in Town of Hanover Court at a later date.
JAMESTOWN Carlos Encarnacion, 57, of Jamestown, was issued appearance tickets for fourth-degree welfare fraud, two counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps. Encarnacion allegedly failed to report his unemployment benefits to Department of Social Services when he applied for food stamps and he also failed to report to Social Services when he gained employment, therefore he received total public assistance benefits in the amount of $4,283.21 ($1,431,00 in food stamps and $2,852.21 in Medicaid) he was not entitled to have. Encarnacion is to appear in City of Jamestown court at a later date.
HANOVER Deputies were on foot patrol on the Hanover Town beach in Sunset Bay Wednesday around 4:40 p.m. and observed Giulia Giuffre, 24, of Jamestown and Ross Sowrey, 20, of Falconer, to allegedly be in possession of open containers of alcoholic beverages. Both were issued appearance tickets for the violation of the Hanover local law and will answer the charges in the Town of Hanover Court.
