Jennifer Bucklin of Eagle Street, Dunkirk and Geoffrey Knaak of Mullet Street, Dunkirk, students at the State University of New York at Buffalo, have been inducted into "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges."
Thirty years ago - 1982
Dunkirk Mayor Edwin Gregoreski contacted representatives of the Peter J. Schmitt Co. in Buffalo with a number of questions about their plans for the expansion of their Bells Store and construction of an attached building for a Ben Franklin Store. The lot on which the work will be done was tentatively sold to them earlier this year by the city's urban renewal agency after the firm made several promises to the city, including that it would build a pavilion and give local contractors an opportunity to do the work.

Marlo Thomas, star of television's "That Girl" show, has canceled her trip to Dunkirk and Jamestown on behalf of Sen. George McGovern due to "personal reasons." She was to have visited the Roblin Steel plant and the Ames Plaza.

The Dunkirk Board of Education has approved the purchase of a new 60-passenger school bus at a cost of $9,668.20
