Anchorage resident, Dorothy Renae Martin, 92 died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at her residence.

Dorothy was born October 5, 1919 in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada to Delbert and Cora (McBrien) Shook. She was a graduate of Dunkirk High School in Dunkirk, New York. In 1962, Dorothy moved with her family to Medford, Oregon where she managed the Sears advertising office for ten years. She had been a resident of Anchorage since 1977 where she was employed as a receptionist with the Municipality of Anchorage until her retirement in 1984.

She took special delight in writing off-beat poetry and in hand-written correspondence with her many out of state friends.

She wrote zany poems, Enjoyed writing a letter, The letters were clever, The rhymes could have been better, So having said that, We made this small note, A fitting marker would read: "that's all she wrote!"

Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, Valerie and Roxanne Martin of Anchorage; and Diane Bickford of Eagle River; and one nephew, Douglas Fearman of New York.
