Men's Senior League Baseball

Stericycle A's 4, Cabana Sam's Braves 2 - Bob Bankoski tied the game with an RBI single in the top of the sixth inning, before Doug Baker's 435-foot inside-the-park home run won it for the A's in the seventh.

The Fredonia 11-12 year-old softball team won Little League’s District 38 title recently, topping Dunkirk 23-0 on Sunday, and 22-0 on Monday, in the best-of-three series. In the first game, Hannah Cybart and Grace Pucciarelli combined on a no-hitter while Mekenna Leid had three hits, including a triple and home run. Also for Fredonia, Hannah Gullo, Caitlin Cybart and Hannah Cybart all had two hits each. Katie Webster homered in the win. In the second game, Hannah Cybart, Pucciarelli and Andrea Smith combined to shut down the Dunkirk offense. Webster led the offensive attack with three hits, including her second home run of the series. Also for Fredonia, Leid had a pair of triples, Katie Price added a triple and Hannah Cybart had a double. Caitlin Smith and Smith also hit safely in the win. Pictured are members of the team. Fredonia will be back in action this weekend, as it will host the Section 1 tournament at the Eagan Sports Complex, located on Clinton Avenue. Fredonia will take on Oakfield at noon, on Saturday, followed by a game between the yet-to-be-determined District 4 and District 2 champions, at 2:30 p.m. The winners of those games will advance to the semifinals. Should Fredonia win, they will play Lockport on Sunday, at noon. The winner of the District 4-District 2 game will play Seneca Falls on Sunday, at 2:30. The Section 1 title game is scheduled for Monday, at 6 p.m.

Baker picked up the win on the mound, allowing four hits while striking out 12 in a complete-game effort.

Bob Edwards suffered the loss for the Braves, adding a home run at the plate to help his own cause.

Wednesday Morning Ladies Purple Posse League - This week's game was 'Pull the Tees,' with first place going to Jeanne Pagano, second being a tie between Marcia Casella and Donna Allesi.

The 'Fine Tune Your Short Game' contest and longest chip in (No. 6) went to Casella. Fewest putts was a tie between Audrey Parker and Marcia Drayo.

The Purple Posse will tee-off again on July 11, at 10 a.m.

Hillview Golf Course

Tuesday Night Men's League - Low scores: Bob Manning 38, Bill Aldrich 41, Dave Miller 41, Hector Alverio 41. Closest to the pin: Cory Bracken (No. 5). Top point winners: A Flight: Alverio 6.5, B Flight: Manning 8.5, C Flight: Jerry Dziduch 7.5, D Flight: Paul Leone 6.5. Skins: Joe Bifaro (No. 1), Miller (No. 2), Bracken (No. 5) and Alverio (No. 8).

The Women Who Golf For Fun - Lowest score was shot by Pat Kaus, followed by Pat Daniel and Linda Hodorowicz. Carol Hudson was third, followed by Joyce Cullen.

Sugar Hill Golf Course

The Girls4Golf Tuesday Night League - Low gross went to Judith Waterman, Judy Mowery and Linda Prince, who each shot a 47. They were followed by Nancy Phillips with a 48 and Sue Johnson with a 52.

Low net went to Linda Prince and Judith Waterman, who each carded a 33 followed by Sue Johnson with a 34.

Prizes for the evening were won by Phillips for closest-to-the-pin on her drive on No. 3 and Judith Waterman for having the best poker hand, according to her score for the evening.

Team standing for the league are Phillips and Karen Tramuta (first place), Sally Giambrone and Debbie Yerico (second place) and Prince and Johnson (third place).

Tuesday Night Men's Golf League - Scott Smith 33, Todd Fenton 35, Steve Wintersteen 35, Kerry Murphy 37, Brad Kelly 38, Darren Mangine 38, Don House 38, Brenton Wilcox 38, Tim Bulger 39, Rod Lind 39.
