FORESTVILLE - Two faces were notably absent from the board table at the Forestville Village Board meeting.

Mayor Charles Brewster announced Clerk Marcia Peterson's and Trustee Justin Dix's resignations at the meeting.

Peterson resigned effective June 23. No reason given at the board meeting.

Although a resolution was on the agenda to appoint Betty Higgs, a past village clerk, to a temporary position, the board decided to table the motion until it considers all options.

"We would just like to explore all of our options before we bring someone in and make them clerk. Just to make sure it is handled in the best interest of the village," Brewster said.

He mentioned considering hiring from the outside or even a company to come and sort out the office.

Brewster said there may be a special meeting in July once the board decides what to do with the position.

In the meantime, he asked all residents note a change in the clerk's office hours to Wednesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Dix resignation was effective June 25. Brewster said Dix could not dedicate the time needed for the position.

"His heart was in the right place but he's starting a family and has a full-time career," Brewster explained.

He added if anyone is interested in filling the position until March when Dix's term expires, that person should contact any elected board member.

Brewster said the only requirement for the position is that the person is a village resident and also asked that all applicants be able to dedicate the time needed for the position, especially during the water project when there will be many special meetings.

Brewster said the best way to express interest in the position is by written statement, with copies for all board members. All submissions must be in by July 9.
