Steve Thorsell of Habiterra presented the Pine Valley Board of Education with renderings of design schemes for replacement of the windows at the high school.

The pair brought samples for the board to choose from for the replacement of windows on the junior high wing at the high school. The board has to approve what material will be used on the outside of the windows. Walter said the windows will keep with the same style of the existing windows and the windows will be a variation of a theme.

A durable material that will be able to stand up to the snow in winter and heat in summer will be used.

"It's very durable and weather resistant," Thorsell said.

Walter also updated the board on the rest of the building project. Phase 1 of the project is waiting on the water testing for the well-house to be bid out. The entire project will be bid out in late 2012 or early January 2013.

"We're kind of ahead on phase 2," he said.

The final phase of the building project is estimated to be bid out later in spring, Walter said. The board did not make a decision regarding the material and will act on the matter at a later time.

In other business:

Bryelle Cortright was appointed as a volunteer coach for girls basketball for the 2012-13 school year.

The board accepted the resignations of Samantha Smith as long-term substitute social studies teacher and Dylan Colburn as temporary summer laborer.

High School Principal Cathy Fabiatos presented to the board Business First rankings of schools. Pine Valley was named 52 out of 98 districts. Fabiatos also presented information about attendance rates in the high school. For this past school year, the school's attendance rates was almost 95 percent.
