Hanover Little League crowns champions

Excelco Developments-Newbrook Machinery of Silver Creek were named the Hanover Little League Champions with an undefeated record. ERIE, Pa. - Carlos Troche shot the low round of 74 at Scenic Heights Golf Course, including a 2-under par 34 to lead the front nine. Kerry Murphy had the low back nine with 37. Ken Kaus won the B Flight on a tiebreaker over Jim Ferrick and Joe Michalski. John Bongiovanni won the C Flight on a tiebreaker over Butch Mackowiak. Jim Ellman Sr. won the D Flight. Winner of the Commissioner's Award was Greg Haase.

The A's (7-3) exploded for a nine-run fifth inning to break open a tight game and defeat the Tribe.

Brenden Maslak (three runs), Daniel Barnes (two RBIs), Kevin Lidlow (two RBIs) and Brian Dempsey all collected two hits in the win. Nick Iskra and DJ Lombardo each added two RBIs of their own. Iskra was the winning pitcher, going five innings with relief help from Zach Gawronski and Lidlow. The trio surrendered three hits.

Troy Smith was the losing pitcher for the Indians.

The Monnies were led by Colton Farnham and Devin Carlson's three hits while Ryan Hall and Mike Curtin had two hits. Mike Privitera picked up the win on the mound.

Dan Nickle had two hits while Zack Sliwa added a triple. Joe Wdowiasz suffered the loss.
