Fredonia 11-12 Year-Olds Advance to Section 1 Title Game
The Fredonia 11-12 year-old all-star team advanced to the New York State Section 1 Little League Softball title game after wins Saturday and Sunday.

Fredonia advanced to the championship game with a 16-3 win over Lockport. Hannah Cybart and Grace Pucciarelli combined for the win, as Fredonia won its fourth straight game by the 10-run mercy rule.
Andrea Smith had a double while Hannah Cybart had a pair of hits. Morgan St. George chipped in a single in the win while Cassie Essek, Mekenna Leid and Caitlin Cybart led the Fredonia defense.
Fredonia will face Seneca Falls, a 13-3 winner over Pittsford on Sunday, today at 6 p.m., at the Ed Eagan Sports Complex, located on Clinton Avenue, in Fredonia.
On Saturday, Fredonia dispatched Oakfield-Alabama, 14-0, for its third straight shut out. Hannah Cybart and Pucciarelli combined to toss a no-hitter while Hannah Cybart helped their cause with three hits, including a double. Smith had a double in the win while Leid, Mikayla Reynolds, Katie Webster, Caitlin Cybart and Katie Price all hit safely.

Double A Vineyards Indians 12, Moniuszko Club Astros 7 - Troy Smith led the Indians with a pair of singles and three RBIs while Kobe DeJesus, Brandon Haase, Dan Dudzic and Luis Serrano each added run-scoring singles.
The Astros earned a 5-all tie in the third inning on David Woloszyn's two-run single, but the Indians were able to regain the lead in the bottom of the third on an A.J. Morales double, which was followed by a Serrano bunt single and a two-run base hit by Smith.
Juliam Fred, Randy Cooper and Geo DeJesus shared the mound duties for the Indians, allowing three hits while striking out eight. Cooper earned the win.
Andrew Chillemi and Tyler Rebmann pitched in defeat for the Astros, allowing eight hits while striking out six and walking as many. Chillemi suffered the loss.

Friday Evening Couples League - The format was a four-player 'Scramble with a Twist'.
In first place, with a score of 33, was the team of Bob and Pat Kaus and Jim and Sandy Korzeniewski. Second place went to the team of Wink and Pat Daniel and Chris and Priscilla Penfold, with a score of 34. Tied for third place, with a score of 35, were the teams of Dennis and Cheryl Gawronski, Larry Wollert and Judy Waterman, Jack and Carol Hood and Dave and Colleen Paradis, as well as the team of Larry and Rosemary Tibbetts.
Tied at 37 were the teams of Pete and Colleen Borzilleri, John and Paula Lakas, Chuck and Carol Hudson and Paul and Theresa Leone, as well as Pat Deering and Sue Slate, along with Jim and Pam Waite.
Closest to the pin on No. 5 was the team of Gawronski, Wollert and Waterman. Closest to the pin on No. 9 on the second shot was the team of Penfold and Daniels, with a birdie.
Cassadaga Country Club
The Wednesday Ladies League will be hosting a four-person nine-hole scramble format golf tournament on Wednesday, July 18.
All golfers are welcome to participate, with the proceeds being donated to Roswell Park Cancer Hospital. The cost will be $15 for club members who are walking, $22 for club members using a cart, $26 for non-members who are walking and $33 for non-members who wish to use a cart.
The cost includes a buffet dinner after the evening round of golf. There are still openings for the round teeing off at 4:30 p.m., for those who will be walking and there are openings for those who are walking, and riding, who want to tee-off at noon.
There will be a raffle for a club membership for the 2013 season, an antique putter, that was hand-made in Scotland, and many more prizes as well. There will also be a Chinese auction, a 50/50 drawing, a contest for the longest drive and team prizes.
Also, luminaries may be purchased for $5 to honor a cancer survivor, or to pay tribute to a loved one who has passed. Donations will also be accepted.

District 38 9-10 Year-Old Baseball All-Star Schedule
The schedule for the semi-finals and finals are as follows: Today, Fredonia will square off against Gowanda at 5 p.m., while Dunkirk will face Falconer at 7:30. The finals are scheduled for Tuesday, at 6 p.m. All games will be played on Ed Wisniewski Field.
