Twenty years ago - 1992

Margaret "Maggie" Bentham of Silver Creek rode the carousel horse "Fire Cracker" during a special visit to Midway Park in Maple Springs to celebrate her 85th birthday. The whirl on the park's antique carousel was courtesy of the park management, even though the facility was not open for the day. The adventurous type, on her 78th birthday, Maggie went hot-air ballooning with a friend.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Brides in white satin and grooms in navy blue suits - 4,150 in all - solemnly filed past evangelist Sun Myung Moon as he chanted marriage vows in Korean during a $1.2 million mass wedding at Madison Square Garden. It was the largest mass marriage in history.

Forty years ago - 1972

Walt Patulski, the Buffalo Bills number one selection in the college draft, has signed a multi-year contract with the National Football League Club.

Fifty years ago - 1962
