The June meeting of the Chautauqua County Society of Artists featured Denise Snyder-Norberg, one of the resident artists. Snyder-Norberg presented a detailed lesson on how to prepare and paint on turkey feathers. The group in attendance was especially astounded by the amount of time and detail required to prepare the feather before paint was applied. Each month, a member of the group will be presenting a lesson on their art specialty. Snyder-Norberg, along with other artisans, will be displaying their creations at the July 7-8 "Art in the Park" festival held at Mayville's Lakeside Park.
The business portion of the meeting was conducted by President Elaine Caflisch. The "Art in the Park" festival arrangements were discussed and registrations obtained from those in attendance. Artists are still welcome to register for a space at the festival and may call Caflisch at 763-3156 or Snyder-Norberg at 488-0268. The next meeting of the Society of Artists will be Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 6 p.m. in the Celoron Community Building. New members are always welcome and encouraged to join.
