HANOVER - The town of Hanover does not have a Veteran's Park but that may change. Councilman Wayne Ashley brought up the idea during a recent town board workshop.
"The town does not have a veteran's memorial and I've got an idea in my head," Ashley said.
He would like to see a memorial to veterans within the town. The memorial would consist of headstones for each branch of the military. Each headstone would have the symbol for each branch with a flag behind the stone.

All the stones would be in a semi-circle form and the stones would be white with a black stone in the middle to symbolize all those who are missing in action or prisoners of war.
As for a location, Ashley has heard some suggestions as to where the park could be placed.
"King Road Park was suggested but no one would go out there," Ashley said.
He would like to see the park be on town property located at the town hall. Ashley suggested placing the memorial in the front of the town hall near the parking lot but Councilman Kevin O'Connell suggested placing it behind the town hall.
"The place in back (of the town hall) could be more reflective and you would not be bothered by traffic," he said.
Ashley would also like to to put in a pathway around the stones. It is his idea that individuals can buy bricks in the pathway to honor or remember service members. Ashley's vision was for local residents to adopt fallen soldiers and purchase a brick for those men and women, Supervisor Todd Johnson said.
Councilman Frederick Seegert Jr., thought the project will be a good addition to the town.
"It's a great idea (and) great project," he said.
While the project is still in its planning stages, Ashley has hope the project will start to come together soon. If anyone individuals have ideas on the project, he said he is open to suggestions regarding the planning stages.
In other business:
A bid of $13,728 was awarded to Home Base of Fredonia for window replacements in the town hall.
Darlene Fox was appointed acting assessor for a six month period.
The board accepted the resignation of Deputy Town Clerk Vicki Krupa with regret. The board then approved Hazel Deet as deputy town clerk and deputy registrar.
The board approved Johnson to execute an agreement with Silver Creek School district for the 2012 swim program and approved Kimberly Stott as a bus driver for the program.
