"Every time I make wine, I always hope that other people enjoy the end product as much as I do. Winning this medal is outstanding and I hope to continue producing high-quality and good tasting wine in the years to come," stated Kane.

21 Brix Winery, which just opened its doors in September, also won six silver medals at this competition. Three of the wines which won silver, including the Ellatawba, Dry Riesling and Semi Dry Riesling, were just unveiled during their grand opening weekend April 21 and 22. The other silver medal winners include Ella's Red, formerly known as Brick House Red, Thirsty Elephant and 2011 Chardonnay.

The Pacific Rim Wine Competition has been judging wines since 1985. The thirty wine professionals judge over 2,000 wines during the two-day competition. 21 Brix Winery was contacted shortly after the competition finished by Yolanda Daly, the event director, who shared the great news with the winery. One of the judges from the wine competition, Patty Held, Winery Consultant from Missouri also was in touch with 21 Brix Winery in order to extend her congratulations.

"I have been judging wine for 20 plus years and this is one of the best Niagara wines I have ever tasted. It has a beautiful, fresh Niagara aroma and a slightly sweet finish. When the wine was unveiled, I was delighted that it was a newcomer, 21 Brix Winery," declared Held.

21 Brix Winery offers a wide range of wines to please anyone's palette. Stop by the tasting room, open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to sample award-winning wines. Two fruit wines, including a Cherry and Raspberry wine are also available for sampling. As the weather becomes nicer, consider bringing in your own picnic foods or purchasing a cheese, cracker and pepperoni platter to enjoy with a glass of wine or a wine slushie on the wrap-around porch. The winery is located on 6654 West Main Road/Route 20 in the town of Portland (792-2749).
