Fourth Annual Nathan George Co-ed Softball Classic set

Squire Whites, The White Inn and The Nathan George Foundation announce The Fourth Annual Nathan George Memorial Coed Softball Classic will take place Saturday, Aug. 11 at Promenschenkel Stadium, School No. 7 and Koch's softball fields beginning at 8 a.m.

Teams will compete for the championship title with cash prizes to the top two teams. Each team is guaranteed at least two games. Team slots are still available. Players must be over the age of 16 to participate.

The tournament will feature a free baseball/softball clinic for children ages 9-12. Participants are asked to bring a glove, cleats and hat. The clinic will start at 10 a.m.

Also available will be the Kids Korner sponsored by Pride and Joy Child Care (NYS licensed day-care facility located in Fredonia). This service is free of charge to parents while they participate in the tournament. Volunteers will help the children make crafts and participate in fun activities. It will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with crafts, games, party bouncer, sand tables and more. Activities will be supervised by certified first aid, CPR and AED staff members. Children of non-players are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

Food and beverages will be provided by Don Bennice, Boston Hotel Steak and Crabhouse, Coughlin's and 41 West. Music will be provided by Rob Sciarrino, bounce house by Pump It Up, 50/50 drawings, raffles and appearances by the Buffalo Jills and Mark James with the KIX Chix from Kix Country 96.5. An awards celebration will take place at Rookies On The Lake immediately following the tournament.

On Friday, Aug. 10, Beaver Tail Catering will host a Chinese Auction/spaghetti dinner beginning at 4 p.m., with live music by "Heard of Buffalo" starting at 7 p.m. Dinner will be held at The Fredonia Beaver Club.

All proceeds will benefit The Nathan George Foundation, Inc. which awards annual scholarships to local high schools and helps support children's sports programs in need.
