Next was the team of Jim and Jane Ellman and Paul and Theresa Leone with a score of 36. With a score of 37 was the team of Larry Wollert and Pat Kaus and Larry and Rosemary Tibbetts. There was a three-way tie at 38 with the teams of Jim and Pam Waite and Fritz Worosz; Dennis and Cheryl Gawronski and Dave and Colleen Paradis; and Chuck and Carole Hudson and Chris and Priscilla Penfold. Closest to the pin on No. 5 and closest to the pin on No. 9, second shot was the team of Wollert, Kaus and Tibbetts.

Rally for the Cure Golf Tournament

There will be a "Rally for the Cure" golf tournament at Pinehurst Golf Course in Westfield on Saturday, July 21.

It is hosted by the Tuesday Evening Par Tee Girls League. The Susan G. Komen Foundation raises money each year to help with the research for the cure of breast cancer by sponsoring the "Rally for the Cure" Breast Cancer Golf Tournaments.

All the money raised through these tournaments goes toward research for a cure. There will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start for a two-person scramble. The registration fee is $20, which includes a years subscription to a magazine (four different magazines to choose from), a Rally for Cure magnetic ball marker, along with other goodies. A major prize will be awarded for a woman closest to the pin on a par-3 hole and also a major prize for a man closest to the pin on a par-3 hole, plus many other hole prizes and a Chinese auction. The tournament cost is $20 per person and does not cover golfing fees or cart. There will also be an optional lunch after a great morning of golfing.

Anyone interested in volunteering to umpire for the upcoming Third Annual Joseph Karnes Memorial Softball tournament should contact Casey Mazurek at 680-0902.

The event will be held Saturday, July 14.

Dunkirk Little League

to hold Softball Clinic

Dunkirk Little League will be conducting a girls' softball clinic, which will begin on Thursday, July 12, at 9 a.m. The clinic will continue every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the month of July. The clinic will be held at the Dunkirk Little League complex.

The purpose of the clinic is to teach the fundamentals of softball, including pitching, hitting and fielding. There will be no charge for the clinic and it is open to any Dunkirk resident who will be 9-12 years-old by Dec. 31, 2012.

The 2012 Randy Goss Memorial Golf Tournament

The 2012 Randy Goss Memorial Golf Tournament has been scheduled for Aug. 18, and will be held at Rosebrook Golf Course, in Silver Creek.

The tournament is a two-person scramble format, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The cost is $55 per person, which includes golf, cart, skins, closest to the pin on every hole, lunch, adult beverages, pop and dinner.

There will be a bus taking golfers from Dunkirk to the golf course. The tournament is limited to the first 72 golfers.

For Fredonia, Nick Fleckenstein had two hits including a home run while Seth Schrader had two hits with a double. Lucas Voss, Trey Swartz, Derrick Walters and Kevin Siracuse had two hits apiece for Fredonia.

For Bemus, Zam Trim had three hits while Nash Nelson had two hits for Bemus. Nick Fabrezio added a double for Bemus.
