State must hear support

"It's a great day for Dunkirk," state Sen. Catharine Young proclaimed in front of a group of 250 residents and officials gathered at the city pier in Dunkirk.

With NRG Energy Inc. serving as a backdrop, the conference was to announce big happenings: a potential $700 million investment in the Dunkirk plant by the company. A large portion of the massive project includes using natural gas to power the facility.

But before work can happen at the plant, community residents need to voice their support for the plan. State Gov. Andrew Cuomo has an Energy Highway plan for this year. Part of the plan includes "expanding our energy infrastructure."

This massive project accomplishes that. However, your voice still needs to be heard.
