Twenty years ago - 1992

The last of four historic tombstones, removal of which from East Ripley Cemetery has embroiled the Chautauqua County Historical Society in controversy since March, is being prepared for resetting in its original site. Unauthorized removal of the stones caused the Chautauqua County Legislature in April to hold up its annual $1,000 contribution to the society.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Ms. Susan Pattie of Chestnut Street, Fredonia won first prize in recent design competition conducted by the University of Delaware and W. L. Gore & Associates of Newark, Del. Ms. Pattie was among eight students in an apparel design class at the college who created motorcycle jackets from the fabric "Gore-Tex."

Forty years ago - 1972

Daniel A. Roblin Jr., chairman of the board and president of Roblin Industries Inc., has announced the purchase of an additional building at Progress Park, formerly known as the pipe shop used by Alco Products Inc.

Fifty years ago - 1962

Edwin R. Butcher has been re-elected president of the Forestville Central School Board of Education and Edward Domenico was elected vice president.
