BATAVIA - The Fredonia 11/12 year-old All-Star team secured a trip to the New York State tournament with a thrilling come-from-behind, 6-5 win Monday in Batavia.

Fredonia trailed 5-0, but used a four-run fifth inning to bounce back and earn the win.

Chris Buchanan led the offense by driving in a pair of runs with a 2 for 3 performance at the plate. Lucas Voss added a clutch RBI double.

Noah?Fleckenstein had the game-winning RBI single and also earned the win on the mound in relief of Reid Tarnowski.

Tarnowski threw the first 2 1/3 innings and struck out one before Walters finished the final 3 2/3 innings with five strikeouts.

Seth Schrader, Jacob Tarnowski and Tyler Winchell all contributed hits to Fredonia's attack.

The team leaves Monday for Long Island where it will participate in a six-day, double elimination, pool play tournament.

Coach Kevin Voss was nearly speechless he was so proud of his team. He was also fairly confident that this group becomes the first team from Fredonia to reach the New York State tournament.

"I feel like I need to pinch myself," he said.
