Chautauqua District Past Matrons

Chautauqua District Past Matrons recently held its annual meeting at Forestville Masonic Eastern Star Hall with a 6 p.m. dinner served by Susan Saye, assisted by three young ladies and her mother Ella Mae.

President Margaret Heiden welcomed everyone and Martha Woolley gave the invocation. Business session included memorial white rose and tributes for Evelyn Bingham (by Karen Thompson), Madeline Dorman (by Ruth Ostrom), Elsie Taylor (by daughter Gladys Ogden), and Jean Velott (by Mary Ann Olszewski).

Election of officers was held, with the following elected: Linda Blodgett, president; Francelia Skoglund, vice president; Bernice Lewis, secretary; and Margaret Heiden, treasurer.

Lori Petersen of Forestville was attending for the first time.

Lynne Schmitt, commissioner of appeals west, attended all 33 state official visits, Oriskany Festival of Stars, and homecomings. District Deputy Helen Patti thanked everyone for their support this year. Olszewski, grand representative of Alberta, Canada, near the Grand Chapter of New York, traveled with Schmitt to the various meetings. Advisor Geraldine Yauchzy complimented all on their activities and support. A reception will be held for Olszewski and a new staff officer: Necrology Committee, Linda Conti. Helen Patti and Quentin Bensink will continue for a second year as deputy and lecturer.

Upcoming events are: Aug. 13, Jewelry Party; Sept. 21, Towel Party; Oct. 27, spaghetti dinner; Sept. 8, acacia chapter at Community Center in Findley Lake; Sept. 15, line officers at Acacia, 2 p.m. (host chapter will serve refreshments).
