Twenty years ago - 1992
Anthony O. Bartholomew, M.D., has joined the medical staff at Brooks Hospital in Dunkirk, specializing in internal medicine. He will begin his practice in association with G. Jay Bishop, M.D., at the Fredonia Medical Park, 50 Brigham Road, Fredonia on July 27. Dr. Bartholomew received his medical degree from SUNY at Buffalo in May 1988.
Thirty years ago - 1982
Rarely heard or seen in the city of Dunkirk and well worth the sponsorship efforts - the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, immaculate in black and white attire, recently performed in concert in Memorial Park. Especially memorable was the sound of violins against the water background.
Forty years ago - 1972
Approximately 500 breakfasts were served at the annual Fly-In held at the Dunkirk Municipal Airport.

The dream of global television came closer to reality last night when an orbiting telestar communications satellite unexpectedly beamed images from space into receivers in France and England. The reception was regarded as a communications feat rivaling the development of the telephone.
