Tour of Chautauqua Bike Ride Reminder

The 29th annual Tour of Chautauqua Bike Ride will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, originating and finishing in front of the Eason Hall, 23 Elm St., Westfield. The mass start begins at 9 a.m. Water and refreshment stops and sag wagon services are provided. Helmets are required. Recreational tours of courses of 25, 40, 62, 75 and 100 miles are offered, with a meal at the finish. Entries postmarked by July 20 are $18 and include a T-shirt while entries after the 20 and the day of the ride are $20 and receive a Tour of Chautauqua water bottle. First Ward Falcon Club Fastpitch Tournament

The 37th First Ward Faclon Club Fastpitch Tournament will take place this coming weekend, beginning with a trio of games Friday night at Promenschenkel Stadium, beginning at 5:45 p.m., when M & M Cleaners/Blasdell Pizza takes on Dunkirk Fastpitch. Rookies on the Lake will square off against the Niagara Fury at 7 while Woodstock, Ontario will face Lackawanna's Big John's at 9.

Live music will be provided during games on Friday night, along a bounce house, Tony's Waffles and refreshments by the First Ward Falcon Club on Saturday and Sunday. A chicken barbecue will also be available on Sunday.

Games will continue all weekend at Promenschenkel Stadium, School No. 7, Veteran's Field and Koch's Field, as teams from New York, Canada, and Pennsylvania will vie for the title. The top eight teams after play concludes on Saturday will advance to Sunday's playoff round, with the championship game being played Sunday afternoon.

Erica Huyck drove in Emily Dillenburg with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Co-Ed alumni team to victory.

Jeff Huyck homered twice and J.R. Olson added a solo homer to lead the Alumni. Dillenburg and Erica Huyck each added five hits for the winners. Winning pitcher Karen Briggs and Erick Griewisch had four his each.

Mike Priest led the Fire Dept. with three hits including a double while Lydia Burger had three doubles. Katie Thompson added two hits with a double in a losing effort. Kyle Barthel also had two hits with a double.

The event raised $200 for the Forestville Fire Department.

Nathan George Memorial Co-ed

Softball Classic

Time is running out for teams to register for the Fourth Annual Nathan George Memorial Co-ed Softball Classic, which will take place on Saturday, Aug. 11. Teams wishing to play should register by no later than Tuesday.
