Twenty years ago - 1992

A "Do You Remember?" photo features the Dunkirk Falcons (Fourth Ward) basketball team that won the City League championship in 1949. Team members were Ed Wisniewski, Brownie Skubis, Dan Formanowicz, Ed Tarnowski, Sam Szalkowski, Spud Dudek, Gene Sweet, Rufus Maslach, Larry Lasecki, Art Kubasik, Rich Abramowicz, Leo Layman and Frank Gawronski.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Anthony Popielarz, president of the Kosciuszko Club, estimates 6,000 persons attended the club-sponsored three-day holiday weekend and food fest earlier this month. Kickbush Hollow, Goodtimes and Chet Kozlowski and the Cavaliers provided the music for the event which attracted visitors from throughout western New York, Canada, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.

Forty years ago - 1972

Parents of children in Dunkirk public elementary schools have overwhelmingly given their support to a proposed "hot lunch" program, it was revealed in a survey released at the Board of Education meeting.

Fifty years ago 1962

Leeds Jewelers of Central Avenue and Fourth streets in Dunkirk is planning to move from its old location in August. It will reopen at 318 Central Ave., the site of Candyland.
